Also-for a long time, there was no "correct spelling" for things, just what the person in charge of that specific, individual print shop or the person in charge of the scribes thought seemed right. And, for a long time after there was an "official" way to spell things, they were not commonly used or widespread due to cost. So, technically, we could all be wrong and the word isn't spelled "colour" or "color" but "kuhler". We will never know.

Why is it so necessary for everyone to have "the correct spelling" or "the correct pronunciation"? Everybody pronunces everything differently. Thats just human nature. Accents effect it, personality effects it, life effects it. I pronounce things differently than my friends occassionally even differently than one of my siblings. nobodys right and NOBODYS wrong. Only exception: names and even that varies. |
